At age 18, Cristal Harris was homeless, with no plans, no real goals, and no tools for success. Cristal's life would pivot in another direction at Delta College. Nine years later, she graduated from law school and returned to Delta's commencement ceremony to share her inspiring story of perseveranceagainst all odds.

When Graciela Villa dropped out of San Jose State University, she thought she was done with higher education. Then along came her son, a little boy named Adan. And everything changed. Graciela was one of more than a dozen Delta College CalWORKs students, many of them moms like her, who decorated their commencement caps this week as part of an end-of-the-year celebration.

If we learned anything from last weeks Student Entrepreneur Expo at Delta College, its that this is one creative campus. Dozens of budding entrepreneurs showed off their products during the event, the first of its kind held at Delta. And not all of these entrepreneurs were even business students.
